Golden Gate Bridge
75th Anniversary and
The Splash & Dash
As you may or may not know, 2012 marks the 75th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge. Last year, the Parks Conservancy put out a big Call for Participation. They requested submissions from partners around the Bay to host unique events in conjunction with the big anniversary. I headed up a proposal from the South End Rowing Club to host a "Golden Gate Bridge Splash'n'Dash." Lo and Behold, my event was chosen!
On July 14th of this year, 150 swimmers will plunge into the water at Fort Point. Surely, all will feel uplifted after a glorious swim under the bridge, an enthralling run back across the bridge and along Crissy Field, and a celebratory lunch at the wonderful South End Rowing Club at Aquatic Park. The event is nearly half full. I am working on filling the second half of the spots on the boat. If you are interested, check out the website below. If anyone you know may be interested, please pass on the info!
www.splashndash.us is the event website.
www.goldengatebridge75.org is the website that has information on all of the celebrations.
Please also feel free to send this along to any swimmer, runner and triathlon distribution lists you may be a part of.
